Here at Alethea, we take our meditation classes seriously. Meditation can be extremely underrated. It can be seen as a little quiet time for yourself, a means to relax, and it is, but it’s much more than. Meditation can literally change every part of your life.
Moving towards creating more self-love and release from self-destructive patterns in your life. It can heal the practitioner on a deep and profound level, allowing us to find a deeper understanding and meaning in our lives. Most who practice meditation through our services get results.
The time may not be right for you to practice meditation now, that’s why at Alethea, we ask you to ring our services before you decide to attend the classes so that you can talk with us about your want/needs. We want to ensure that everyone gets the best service they can, so if you’re thinking about attending, please ring us first and we’ll run through a couple of facts about meditation, and check with you if it is the right time for you to learn to meditate.
Of all the teachings I’ve had in my life, meditation is the glue that holds it all together. I have been meditating for nearly 3 decades now. It hard to believe that time has passed, but I feel more awake and alive today than I did in my 20’s.
I always feel that the meditation came first. It was the start of my internal process where I began to develop my own internal wisdom and healing. I didn’t just decide to learn to meditate, it wasn’t the “cool” thing to do back then, in fact, I thought it was for “hippies” and I have nothing against hippies, but I liked strong coffee, cigarettes, partying, and a lot of other things that probably weren’t compatible with saving the planet. I may have looked ok on the outside, but underneath, I was sad and trying to find peace within myself. Trying to exist in a world where I felt inadequate and “less than”, to name but a few of the things going on for me. Self-love was not on my radar. I didn’t fit the picture of what I thought meditation was.
I was suffering and looking for answers. It felt like meditation wasn’t for me, but I did it because it worked for someone I knew, and I thought, why not try it. It allowed my mind to settle, my body to heal, and then my soul directed me to what I needed. It brought a deep sense of peace and self-worth in my life that I didn’t believe was attainable. It was and is a process. A process of lifelong commitment to self-enquiry and correction.
Through those moments of stillness, I began to really explore who I was and the patterns that were holding me back from joy within myself and in life. The most worthwhile thing I ever did for myself. The best journey I ever embarked on. It’s not a spiritual journey, it’s a human journey. There’s nothing wrong with our spiritual selves, it’s the human self who puts obstacles in our way of returning to our true nature.
Which is love? Love of self first, and then we share that out with others. It’s all that we have to give in this world. There is nothing mystical about meditation, it is a practice that is in fact very very human. We are all the same. We’re all fighting the demons of our own minds and thinking. We came here to be human, we have a right to live that journey in peace, contentment, and harmony. For me, meditation was the vehicle I used to drive that journey. If you would like to learn a meditation practice, why not give it a go. It worked for me, and many others. You’ll find “real” people here, who are happy to share.
We’re comfortable with the uncomfortable conversations. And we serve good strong coffee too!!! Meditation is a practice not to be underrated or underestimated. There is technique, practice and self-learning involved that brings to light the hidden part of self. It is a gentle practice that works on body, mind, and soul. And the only one directing it is YOU. My first introduction to meditation was Transcendental Meditation, and I have studied and applied many other practices/principles and techniques throughout the years.
If you haven’t found the right meditation for you, we’ll find it together. They’re all saying and doing the same thing, we’ll help you find the one that’s right for you. There could be some reasons why it may not be the right time for you now in your life to learn meditation.
